Introduction to the movies of intermediate-dispersivity regimes:
This group of movies show the surface patterns at large times for the values of dispersivity around \(\lambda = 1/\varepsilon \sim 1\). In all cases, we have \(\kappa = 0, \ p=16\) and \(q=16\).
The initial state was a small-amplitude white noise. Movies 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 correspond to the attractors of evolutions with \(\varepsilon = \) 8.0, 2.0, 1.0, 0.5, and 0.125 respectively.
In the movies 15, 16, and 17, one can clearly see horseshoe-shaped structures localized near the maxima of thickness (indicated by dark blue or violet color). They are always downstream-convex.
For movies 14 through 17, the viewing direction is normal to the wall; for the last movie, it is obliquely up the wall.
